1. Roomba Q5 Pro
The Q5 Pro, and its more expensive sibling the Q7 Max Series are among the most powerful robotic vacuums we've examined. They have motors that are top of the class and can handle up to 5,500 Pascals. Like other premium iRobots (including the most powerful model), they use smart mapping to produce precise floor plans and eliminate household obstacles such as cords and furniture leg. They also feature carpet boost which boosts the robot's power when it sees the presence of dirt on the carpet in order to get it clean quickly.
Both the Q5 and Q7 Max Series get very high scores on our tests on floors that are bare and are particularly effective in removing pet hair. However, they do have several flaws that prevent them from being our top pick. One of the flaws of the Q5 is its navigation system doesn't include AI-powered obstacle avoidance. It's therefore prone to become stuck on shoes and socks and couldn't navigate densely packed rooms very well during our tests. Also, it doesn't have cameras that let it see the corners of the room.
However, it's a good choice for those who want to save money on an iRobot Roomba and you have a mostly unfinished home or office. Additionally, it's quiet and can work while you're at work, or at school. It's not equipped with the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming that is offered by the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective at mopping. best robot vacuum cleaner is dependent on disposable wet wipes that don't adhere well and aren't able to deal with dried-on debris. 2. iRobot Roomba
The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact elegant vacuum cleaner that can mop floors. Its smart cleaning maps and quick navigation make it easy to clean, and effective in tackling larger particles such as pet hair. It also has a self-emptying dustbin as well as powerful suction, and support for virtual boundaries. It's the most efficient robotic hoover for carpets, however it isn't as effective as some of its competitors in terms of deep cleaning.
This high-performance vacuum and mop uses sensor technology that can avoid obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the patterns of your home over time and ensure cleaner and more efficient cleaning. You can change the schedule of cleaning and even customize zones through the well-designed app. It has a battery lifespan that is similar to other models.
It is possible to instruct the X30 Ultra to remove its mops and to extend them when in a room with carpet which prevents cross-contamination. Its flex arm can also be used to reach under furniture that is low and along baseboards. However, it's not equipped with the same washboard performance as our other Editors' Choice picks, the Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo N8 Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.
During testing, X30 Ultra was the quickest robot vacuum/mop that could sweep the entire house and had 66 percent of its battery remaining. It did a great cleaning job on a variety of rooms and floors with various kinds of flooring, including certain area carpets. Its obstacle detection was superb and it was able to avoid fake dog turds, socks, shoes and bundles cables.
It's more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but offers superior suction and an onboard bin that automatically empties into the base. It also supports voice commands through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It even cleans the floor after vacuuming it, something we haven't seen in other robot vacuum/mop combos.
3. IRobot Roomba X40
With an elegant, circular design that looks more like a regular Roomba rather than the boxy units, this robot vacuum and mop combo is among the most appealing looking in our reviews. iRobot's latest flagship model also is among the most intelligent model, with features that are cutting-edge like Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology as well as future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that can wash its own mop pads).
It's also the sole robot vacuum or mop that scored the perfect 10/10 out of 10 in our tests. This is due to the combination of high-tech sensors, including a structured lighting system, a camera, and a variety of lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot in our tests that can completely self-refill and empty its base station and boasts an its own self-cleaning mop pads.
Like other iRobot models as well, the X40 is easy to use, offering an easy mobile app interface and integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit as well as Google Assistant. The only downside is that the X40 still a loud unit. This can be a problem in mornings prior to work or during the night when you are trying to fall asleep.
It's also a bit expensive, but not as much as the Ecovacs MaxV Ultra or Roborock S8 Omni, which are both equally capable and better looking. It's a dual-purpose vacuum that is very efficient, but it will cost you more and produce more noise.
4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the line robot vacuum and mop. It has a number of features that are advanced and will help you forget your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaner like Ecovacs top-of-the-line X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It has a multifunction dock which automatically empty the vacuum's bin and fills up the water tank, as well as washes and dry mop pads.
The smart robot uses LIDAR and structured lighting to draw out floor plans and spot obstacles. It can navigate more efficiently than its premium competitors. It also comes with a front-mounted camera that can detect hazards in real-time but this wasn't completely foolproof in our tests, and could be confused with power cords or obstructions.
The vacuum has a suction maximum of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to get the job done. It also has an option called "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the power of the vacuum and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for different areas in the house based on how dirty these areas tend to be.
For bigger homes, it's worth opting for models that has zone or spot cleaning modes that allow you to instruct the robot to clean one particular area of your home using the app or via voice commands. A stairway mode is beneficial if you have large furniture. For families that are busy, a recharge feature and resume feature that allows your robot vacuum to continue from where it left off could be extremely useful.
5. iRobot Roomba RX3
The RX3 is a more efficient cleaner than you might expect from its price tag. It does a stellar job cleaning, removing 55% of the debris that was found in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops with a single pad that uses a reciprocating motion that cleans better than most of the other robot mop cleaners we've tested. It's also self-sufficient with a full-featured app and a self-emptying, washable base.
The iRobot app is designed to help you navigate an exercise in mapping which collects information about your floorplan as well as any "no go" areas that you've marked on the map. You can use it to create cleaning schedules, plan a spot clean or to sort out your rooms with the most dirt to ensure better performance. The app offers a variety of options, including seasonal suggestions, custom mapping and advanced cleaning settings.
It is also able to reach corners and under furniture more easily because its shape is more rectangular. It also has a powerful suction of 8,000 Pascal suction and combs that are intelligent for pet hair. You can also create a spot-cleaner that will thoroughly clean a specific area.
The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a more sleek and more affordable alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It's more appealing, Dolce & Gabbana-esque design and its twin cameras resemble cute eyes. It is excellent at vacuuming, but it's more likely to be caught in low thresholds. It is also louder than other top robot vacuums we have tested. It also has a less intuitive app and a tiny base station that doesn't double as an emptying bin.
